Continuing Legal Education (CLE) & Training
By offering comprehensive CLE and training programs tailored to the unique needs and challenges faced by Muslim women, IWILAP plays a crucial role in advancing gender justice and equality within both legal systems and communities.
IWILAP is therefore, dedicated to providing attorneys, community advocates, and the general public with practical and participatory programs related to Islamic Law and legal issues facing the Muslim Community. As a part of this initiative, we are working with experienced legal professionals to provide quality Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses that address issues faced by attorneys representing Muslim clients.
IWILAP has conducted a series of CLEs that provide an in-depth understanding of Islamic jurisprudence related to women’s rights, including domestic violence and family law, International Human Rights Law, Islamic Law and Women's Rights, marriage, divorce, inheritance, custody, Reproductive health, and justice, and how these intersect with contemporary legal frameworks. These CLEs were open to attorneys and other court advocates,
social workers, and therapists representing victims of domestic violence in various capacities.
Participants were engaged in subjects ranging from cultural sensitivity to advocating for Muslim victim’s rights in the courtroom.
Providing Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and training specifically focused on Muslim women’s rights and access to justice could be incredibly impactful in empowering both the legal community and Muslim women themselves.
